Archie's Joke Book Magazine #196
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis May 1974 issue of Archie's Joke Book Magazine delivers its punchline right on the cover: Betty and Veronica visit a hospital nurse's station asking how Archie could possibly have ended up in the Accident Ward if he never ate the cake they brought — and the two-panel payoff below reveals Archie flat on his back with a heavily bandaged foot elevated, while the answer comes in bold letters: "I DROPPED IT ON HIS FOOT!" It's a perfectly timed visual gag that showcases the series at its lighthearted best, with the gang's colorful 1970s fashions adding plenty of charm to the joke.
