Launching in 1982 with a whopping 256 full-color pages, this inaugural issue of Archie's Double Digest Quarterly Magazine promised — right on the cover — to be "the biggest Archie book in history." The cover, penciled and inked by Dan DeCarlo, captures a lively disco scene where Betty, Veronica, Archie, and a crowd of dancers fill a circular vignette bursting with music notes and movement, while Jughead looks on and smaller vignettes around the border feature additional familiar faces from the Riverdale gang. Packed with jokes, adventures, and puzzles, it's a terrific time-capsule snapshot of Archie Comics at its most exuberant.
