Archie Comics Digest #38
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis cheerful 1979 digest packs in stories, jokes, and puzzles all for just 75 cents — a genuine bargain in any era. Dan DeCarlo's cover sets the sunny tone perfectly, depicting Archie and two bikini-clad companions arriving at Happy Times Beach, only to be greeted by a sign listing what seems like every fun activity — ball playing, radios, food, skin diving, bikinis, portable TV sets — as "Prohibited on This Beach," with a fluffy white dog along for the bewildered visit. Circular portraits of Veronica, Archie, and Betty along the bottom, plus vignettes of a band performing and a dancing figure, hint at the lively mix of laughs waiting inside.

When Jughead's crow steals Veronica's rare red ruby ring, Archie risks his neck climbing a tall tree to get it back. By then Veronica has discovered that the stolen ring was actually one of her imitations, and lost interest. Archie gives Betty an imitation gold bracelet he found in the crow's nest; she's delighted because it came from Archie.
