“Cream of Contentment”

From the March 1967 Archie lineup comes this delightfully absurd issue of Pep, featuring the red-and-purple-clad Mighty Man in a three-panel cover romp penciled by Dan DeCarlo. He's cheerfully punching cannonballs out of the air and standing down a green dragon for a crowd of Riverdale teens — only to slump defeated at a desk, declaring he draws the line at "new math." It's a wonderfully self-aware gag that captures Archie Comics' knack for mixing superhero silliness with everyday teenage life.
