Veronica, ever the realist with a flair for drama, chimes in with her own take: the American way is to spend freely, no matter the times, as long as someone else is footing the bill. Written by Frank Doyle and illustrated by Harry Lucey, with Chic Stone’s inks, Barry Grossman’s colors, and Bill Yoshida’s lettering, this 1975 classic features Dan DeCarlo’s iconic cover art and Rudy Lapick’s inks.

Archie's parents are planning to spend less because of the recession, but Archie argues that the only way to get out of a recession is for people to spend more, not less. Mr. Andrews sees through this as just a plea for a higher allowance. Later, when Archie explains his theory to Veronica, she says that the American way is to spend, spend, spend, whether there's a recession or not -- and let Daddy pay the bill.
