Archie and Veronica share a heart-decorated boat through the Tunnel of Love in this cheerful November 1972 issue, with a very complimentary speech bubble suggesting Archie's romantic skills are on full display — while a bewildered bystander nearby has clearly missed the context entirely. Dan DeCarlo's cover pencils capture the fun of an amusement park setting, complete with a tiny vignette of another couple sneaking a kiss at the tunnel's entrance and the Riverdale gang tumbling about in a playful strip across the top. With Frank Doyle writing and Harry Lucey on art inside, Archie #222 promises the kind of lighthearted, warmly drawn comedy that made this series such a reliable treat.
