“Lead 'em and Weep”

Archie #102 delivers a perfectly timed bit of teen comedy right on its cover: Archie admires his flashy red convertible, declaring "This baby has everything — what more could I want in a new car?" while a smiling blonde girl pops up beside him with a heart-dotted "Me!" Harry Lucey's cover pencils capture that breezy 1959 charm with a sleek, tail-finned beauty of a car taking up the whole foreground. It's the kind of warmhearted gag that made the Archie series irresistible to readers of the era.

While looking for a tire for his car in the city dump, Archie finds a box containing a pearl necklace. Embarrassed to tell Veronica that he picked up the necklace in the dump, Archie has Jughead drop the box in an expensive jewelry store, so he can tell Veronica that he picked it up there. Unfortunately for the plan, the store detective sees them and thinks they are shoplifting.
