When the Avar leader demands her sacrifice to his carnivorous stallions, the head magician Chelchak intervenes—shifting into a stallion to carry her to freedom. The escape leaves her with questions, especially after returning to her camp to discover the tragic fate of her own horses, a mystery tied to a strange cloud that fell the night before.
