Aquaman #4
In the gripping epilogue to the "Throne of Atlantis" saga, Aquaman awakens to a world transformed—six months have passed, and the Dead King now rules Atlantis. With help from Vulko, Arthur confronts a shocking truth: the man he thought was a mythic ancestor is actually Atlan, the first king, whose legacy is entwined with betrayal and the fall of his own kingdom. Written by Geoff Johns and brought to life by Paul Pelletier’s striking art, with Sean Parsons’ inks and Rod Reis’ colors, this issue deepens the mystery of Arthur’s lineage in a story that redefines what it means to be king. The cover, by Paul Pelletier and Sean Parsons, captures the weight of that revelation.

Aquaman awakens to discover that he has been unconscious for six months, and in that time, the Dead King has seized control of Atlantis. Vulko had helped Arthur to escape and now helps Arthur learn the truth: the Dead King is Atlan, who was the first ruler of Atlantis, who was overthrown and his family was killed by his treacherous brother Orin. Once Atlan successfully defeated Orin and reclaimed the throne, Atlan sank Atlantis. Vulko reveals that Arthur is not descended from Atlan the true king of Atlantis, but is instead descended from the villainous Orin.
