Mary Jo Duffy
Mary Jo Duffy, born February 9, 1954, is an American comic book editor and writer best known for her work at Marvel Comics in the 1980s, particularly on *Power Man and Iron Fist*. She entered the industry as an assistant editor at Marvel in the late 1970s, quickly moving into writing. Her most notable run was on *Power Man and Iron Fist*, where she co-created the character of Misty Knight’s cyborg arm and deepened the buddy dynamic between the two heroes. She also wrote for *Star Wars* and *Sabretooth Classic*, and later worked at DC Comics on *Titans* and at Image Comics. Her style balanced street-level grit with sharp, character-driven dialogue, often highlighting friendship and humor. She collaborated closely with artists like Kerry Gammill and John Byrne. In the 1990s, she wrote for *Spidey* and other titles. Duffy’s career spanned from 1979 to 2018, with over 60 credited issues.
