Don Figueroa
1964–
Don Figueroa (born 1964) is a Filipino American comic book artist and toy designer best known for his detailed, tech-heavy renderings of the Transformers franchise. He rose to prominence during the early 2000s, first at the now-defunct Dreamwave Productions and later at IDW Publishing, where he became a defining visual voice for the robots in disguise. Figueroa’s signature style blends sleek mechanical precision with dynamic, manga-influenced action, making his work instantly recognizable to fans of the series. He contributed as artist, colorist, and inker on nearly 50 issues between 1995 and 2016, with his most-credited titles including *The Transformers*, *Transformers: Stormbringer*, *Beast Wars: The Gathering*, and *Transformers Armada*. He also worked on the *Transformers: Movie Prequel* and the short-lived *Banzai!*. Beyond comics, Figueroa applied his talents to toy design, further cementing his influence on the franchise’s visual identity. His collaborations with writers like Simon Furman helped shape the post-war Cybertronian landscape in IDW’s early run. While he has not received major industry awards, his meticulous craft has earned him a dedicated following among Transformers enthusiasts. Figueroa’s later career saw reduced comic output, but his impact on the series’ aesthetic endures.
