David V. Reed
David V. Reed was born David Levine on December 13, 1914, in the United States. He is best remembered for his comic book writing during the 1950s, particularly for his run on *Batman*. In that period, he introduced the villain Deadshot in *Batman* #59 (July 1950) and later revamped the Batplane in *Batman* #61. Reed’s career in comics began in the mid-20th century, and he became a steady contributor to DC Comics, frequently collaborating with artists such as Dick Sprang. His work is most heavily cataloged in *Batman* and its related titles, including *Detective Comics*, as well as in international reprint series like *Lynvingen* and *Batman Sonderheft*. After his peak in the 1950s, Reed remained active in the industry, with credits spanning from 1975 into the 1990s. He passed away on August 11, 1994. While not a frequent award-winner, his creation of Deadshot has proven a lasting contribution to the Batman mythos, making him a notable figure in the character’s Silver Age history.
