B. Clay Moore
B. Clay Moore is an American comic book writer best known for co-creating the crime-noir series *Hawaiian Dick*. Born in the United States, he entered the comics industry in the early 2000s, quickly establishing a reputation for blending pulp adventure with atmospheric, character-driven storytelling. His signature work, *Hawaiian Dick*, follows a private eye navigating a supernatural underbelly in 1950s Hawaii, a series that showcases Moore’s knack for snappy dialogue and vivid settings. He frequently collaborated with artist Steven Griffin on that title, as well as on projects like *Casey Blue: Beyond Tomorrow* and *Aloha, Hawaiian Dick*. Moore also co-created *JSA Liberty Files: The Whistling Skull*, a World War II-era superhero tale, and wrote the historical thriller *‘76*. Over a career spanning 25 years, he has been credited on more than 70 issues, with his work often praised for its clever twists and strong sense of place. Moore’s later projects include the miniseries *Hawaiian Dick: Screaming Black Thunder* and *Hawaiian Dick: The Last Resort*, continuing the saga that defined his career. While he has not received major industry awards, his cult-favorite series remains a touchstone for fans of retro noir. Moore’s legacy lies in his ability to merge genre tropes with original, offbeat concepts, influencing a generation of independent comic writers.
