Ogun
Ogun was an ancient Japanese warrior and sorcerer who served the Imperial Japanese Army and later became a Yakuza power broker. A master of thirteen martial arts styles—including his own Ogun Ryu—he once mentored Wolverine and later targeted Kitty Pryde, possessing her body to corrupt her with his lethal skills and dark spirit.
Few villains leave a mark as indelible as Ogun, who slithered onto the Marvel stage in 1984's Kitty Pryde and Wolverine — a Bronze Age limited series that gave both its title characters some of their most defining moments. Created by Chris Claremont and Allen Milgrom, Ogun is a figure whose shadow stretches across decades, turning up repeatedly in the pages of Wolverine and X-Men: Kitty Pryde - Shadow & Flame well into the 2020s — a testament to how deeply this character burrowed into Marvel's mythology. He keeps dangerous company, haunting stories alongside Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Ororo Munroe, and even Sabretooth, which tells you everything about the kind of dark, high-stakes corners of the Marvel Universe he inhabits. With 41 years of appearances and a debut issue that collectors rightly treat as essential reading, Ogun is one of those antagonists whose relatively modest page count belies an outsized, lasting impact on the characters he touches.
