Nekra
Nekra Sinclair was born to a white woman and a Black man who worked at a nuclear testing site, the radiation mutating Nekra in utero and leaving her with chalk-white skin and dark features. Rejected and driven by hatred, she discovered her mutation granted her superhuman abilities fueled by intense negative emotion.
Born in the Bronze Age from the creative minds of Steve Gerber and Ross Andru, Nekra made her striking debut in Shanna, the She-Devil #5 in 1973 and has been haunting Marvel's corners ever since β racking up five key collector issues across a remarkable five-decade publishing history. She's kept genuinely formidable company over the years, sharing pages with the likes of Wolverine, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America, and turning up most memorably across Wolverine, Spider-Woman, and Alpha Flight β a murderers' row of Marvel titles that speaks to her staying power. With 53 catalogued appearances stretching all the way to 2024, Nekra is one of those Bronze Age originals who never quite lets Marvel's universe forget she exists β and collectors who've tracked her five key issues know exactly why that's worth paying attention to.
