Mirror Master
Sam Scudder was a small-time crook who, while serving time in prison, became obsessed with mirrors and independently discovered how to use them for criminal ends—creating devices that could project illusions, trap people within reflective surfaces, and enable swift escapes. Debuting as one of the Flash's earliest rogues, he built a criminal career around his mirror-based technology and became a founding member of the villainous collective known as the Rogues.
Few rogues have reflected the Silver Age's gleaming ambition quite like Mirror Master, who shattered onto the scene in The Brave and the Bold #22 in 1959, conjured by the legendary team of Robert Kanigher and Russ Heath. A fixture of DC's most storied corners, this villain has shared panels with titans like The Flash, Batman, and Green Lantern across an impressive six-decade run stretching all the way to 2022. Mirror Master is so deeply woven into DC's fabric that he earned a place in Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe — the ultimate stamp of canonical significance — and counts at least one key collector's issue among his appearances. If you love the classic Flash rogues' gallery and the polished, inventive villainy that defined the Silver Age, Mirror Master is absolutely worth a long, hard look.
