The All-New Batman: The Brave and the Bold #3
The cover of this 2011 DC all-ages gem tells the whole story at a glance: Batman and the Flash strike dynamic action poses on a gritty city street on one side, while the other half plunges into a whimsical, Alice in Wonderland-style realm populated by a grinning Cheshire Cat, a top-hatted Mad Hatter figure, and a mischievous White Rabbit amid mushrooms and soft pastel scenery. Rick Burchett's pencils and Dan Davis's inks split the composition brilliantly down the middle, with the tagline "Through the Looking Glass!" promising that these two worlds are very much about to collide. Writer Sholly Fisch brings his playful sensibility to the "Mirror, Mirror…" story, making this an issue that pairs superhero adventure with storybook charm in the best possible way.
