Judomaster
A World War II-era hero published by Charlton Comics (later acquired by DC), Judomaster was an American soldier who mastered the art of judo while serving in the Pacific theater, using his combat skills to fight enemy forces without conventional weapons.
Judomaster is a Silver Age gem who punched his way onto the scene in 1965's Special War Series #4, brought to life by the prolific Joe Gill and artist Frank McLaughlin in what stands as a collector-recognized key issue right out of the gate. Born from the action-packed war comics tradition of the mid-sixties, this Charlton Comics fighter carved out his own corner of the era before his legacy stretched across an impressive five decades into 2017. Along the way he's shared pages with some of comics' heaviest hitters β Green Lantern, Batman, The Flash, and Blue Beetle among them β a roster that speaks to just how deeply Judomaster has been woven into the broader tapestry of the DC universe. For fans who love discovering the rugged, distinctive flavor of Silver Age Charlton heroes, Judomaster is absolutely worth seeking out.
