Cebolinha
Cebolinha (Jimmy Five) is a mischievous Brazilian boy from Maurício de Sousa's Turma da Mônica, recognizable by his five hair spikes. He endlessly schemes to steal Monica's beloved stuffed rabbit Samson, though his plans — and his trademark speech quirk of swapping "r" for "l" — always give him away.
Cebolinha made their comics debut in the pages of Superaventuras Marvel #1 in 1982 — a Bronze Age launch from Editora Abril that placed this character in genuinely remarkable company, sharing adventures with the likes of Demolidor, Matt Murdock, Conan, Mônica, and Cascão. With 33 catalogued appearances spread across Superaventuras Marvel and the Cascão series, and at least one collector-recognized key issue to their name, Cebolinha is a fascinating figure in Brazilian comics history from this era. The creative team behind that debut — Roger McKenzie, Jotapê Martins, and Frank Miller — makes that first issue alone a remarkable artifact worth seeking out. For collectors with a taste for the unexpected corners of Bronze Age publishing, Cebolinha is exactly the kind of discovery that makes digging through back-issue bins so rewarding.
