Caitlín R. Kiernan, Peter Hogan, and Bryan Talbot were the primary architects of The Dreaming, a 60-issue DC series that ran from 1996 to 2001. Set within the dreamscape of the Sandman universe, this title explored the lives of the residents of the Dreaming—from the librarian Lucien to the raven Matthew—as they navigated the surreal and often perilous aftermath of Dream's absence. With art by Christian Højgaard, Peter Doherty, and Peter Snejbjerg, it deepened the mythos of Neil Gaiman's creation, offering a sprawling, standalone narrative that mattered for its rich, atmospheric storytelling and its expansion of one of comics' most beloved fantasy realms.
