The Dreaming #28

Kiernan with art by Jamie Tolagson. Dave McKean's cover is a quietly unsettling image of three giant matchsticks, the central one blazing with a bright flame, while the other two bear dark, melting human faces that seem to sag and dissolve from the heat. It's the kind of haunting, surreal imagery that made Vertigo's late-'90s output so distinctive, promising dreamlike strangeness within.
