About the series
In the mid-1970s, Marvel introduced Skull the Slayer, a short-lived but memorable eight-issue series that dropped a modern man into a prehistoric jungle. Written by a rotating team of Bill Mantlo, Marv Wolfman, and Steve Englehart, with art by Sal Buscema, Steve Gan, and Sonny Trinidad, the book followed the stranded, skull-masked adventurer as he battled dinosaurs and other primal threats. A product of its era, it stands as a curious, pulpy footnote in Marvel's Bronze Age output, blending survivalist action with the company's trademark monster-of-the-month energy.
