Rawhide Kid

Marvel’s first Western title starring the Rawhide Kid ran for 16 issues from 1955 to 1957, chronicling the adventures of young Johnny Bart as he roamed the frontier. Writers like Don Rico and artists including Dick Ayers, Bob Brown, and Joe Maneely defined the series’ gritty, action-packed tone. Though short-lived, this original run laid the groundwork for the character’s later, more famous revival during the Silver Age.
