Rawhide Kid #7

From 1956 comes this tenth-cent Western thrill, with the Rawhide Kid caught in a tense standoff right on the cover — fists ready, twin guns holstered at his belt, while two armed men close in behind him and a small fire burns dangerously at his feet. Fred Kida's cover art captures the tagline "He Shares His Saddle with Danger!" with real punch, promising stories including "Trapped!" and a grim "Showdown!" inside. With "All Brand New Tales!" and Don Rico writing alongside Dick Ayers on art and letters, issue #7 is a fine snapshot of Atlas-era Western comics at their dust-and-gunpowder best.
