About the series
In the mid-1990s, Marvel launched this 13-issue series, a short-lived but visually striking chapter in Tony Stark's life. Written primarily by Scott Lobdell, Jim Lee, and Jeph Loeb, with art from Whilce Portacio, Ryan Benjamin, and Lee himself, the book is best remembered for its "Heroes Reborn" era context. It pits Iron Man against the Hulk and features Bruce Banner, Pepper Potts, and Dr. Leonard Samson, exploring a darker, more psychologically intense take on the armored Avenger.
