Iron Man #11

Iron Man and Doctor Doom loom face-to-face on this striking 1997 cover by Whilce Portacio, their armored visages pressed together in a tense, almost mirror-image confrontation — Doom's scarred metal mask and green-hooded cloak contrasting sharply with Stark's gleaming red-and-gold helmet. The composition is all menace and proximity, hinting that "Magical Mystery Tour" is going to pit two of Marvel's most formidable armored intellects against each other. With Jeph Loeb at the helm and Portacio's characteristically bold linework on interiors, this is a compelling chapter in the series' 1997 run.
