About the series
Set in the era between Return of the Jedi and the sequel trilogy, Marvel’s Droids (1986–1987) spun off from the animated Star Wars: Droids series, giving C-3PO and R2-D2 their own eight-issue comic. Writers Dave Manak and George Caragonne, alongside artists John Romita, Ernie Colón, and Mary Wilshire, crafted lighthearted, action-packed adventures that highlighted the iconic duo’s resourcefulness across the galaxy. Though brief, the series stands as a charming, kid-friendly expansion of the Star Wars universe, focusing on the droids’ solo exploits without their Jedi masters.
