“The Ultimate Weapon!”

C-3PO throws up his hands in alarm as R2-D2 sparks and sputters under fire from a squadron of hovering guard drones — it's a wonderfully chaotic cover that captures these beloved droids in genuine peril. John Romita's linework gives the scene real energy, with "ZZZTT" and "BZZZAPP" sound effects punctuating the electrical chaos all around the beleaguered astromech. Star Comics' 1986 Star Wars: Droids series brought the galaxy's favorite mechanical duo their own adventures, and issue #2 — "The Ultimate Weapon!" — looks like a fine place to be along for the ride.
