Jim Starlin and Bernie Wrightson launched this sprawling space opera for Marvel in the early 1980s, following the one-eyed, mystic-powered Vanth Dreadstar and his ragtag crew as they navigated a galaxy torn between two tyrannical empires. With Starlin’s cosmic scale and Wrightson’s moody, detailed art, the series blended epic battles with philosophical musings on power and destiny.
