“The Power!”

That haunting cover question — "The End?" — hangs over a stricken Dreadstar laid out in a glowing green sarcophagus, surrounded by his anxious teammates: a bald figure in black with a red cape and staff, a woman in purple clutching him, a powerfully built man in white-and-red, a small costumed figure, a blue-skinned bruiser, and a cat-eared warrior in purple. Jim Starlin and inker Sam de la Rosa frame the scene with real emotional weight, turning the assembled cast into a tableau of genuine dread. This November 1984 Epic Comics entry, "The Power!", is the kind of cover that makes you flip straight to page one.
