Clive Barker's Night Breed
Marvel · 1990–1993 · 25 issues
About the series
From 1990 to 1993, Marvel Comics expanded Clive Barker’s horror mythos with Night Breed, a 25-issue series co-written primarily by D. G. Chichester, Alan Grant, and John Wagner. Anchored by the moody, visceral art of Jim Baikie, Brett Blevins, and Tony Harris, the book followed Aaron Boone, Lori Winston, and other outcasts of Midian’s hidden community as they struggled against a hostile human world. This series gave deeper life to Barker’s monstrous yet sympathetic “Night Breed,” exploring themes of identity and persecution with a gothic, cinematic intensity that distinguished it from mainstream superhero fare. A cult-classic blend of horror and pathos, it remains a key artifact of Marvel’s early-’90s foray into licensed dark fantasy.
