American Vampire
From 2010 to 2013, DC Comics published American Vampire, a 34-issue series that reimagined vampire lore through a distinctly American lens, spanning decades from the Old West to the mid-20th century. Co-plotted by Scott Snyder and Stephen King, with art primarily by Rafael Albuquerque, the series introduced a new breed of vampire born under the desert sun, stronger and more feral than its European cousins. Snyder and Albuquerque's dynamic storytelling anchored the series, while King lent his voice to a key early arc, and later issues expanded the mythos with contributions from Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, Mateus Santoluco, and Jordi Bernet. Its ambitious historical sweep and fresh take on the genre made it a standout horror-Western hybrid in the modern comics landscape.
