X-Men Forever #1
This volume collects the first issues of the 2009 X-Men Forever series, which presents an alternate take on the X-Men universe following the events of X-Men #3 (the 1991 series). Written by Chris Claremont, the story reimagines the fates of iconic characters like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde, and Sabretooth, as they face new threats and old enemies in a world where history took a different turn. The collection sets the stage for a sprawling saga that explores what might have been for Marvel's mutant team.
In "Love--and Loss! [Part 1]," Chris Claremont and Tom Grummett kick off a gripping new chapter with the X-Men racing to save Storm from the Consortium—only to be blindsided by her sudden, desperate escape. As Cyke's team uncovers a hidden lair, SHIELD intervenes, and the team grapples with the mystery of two Storms, all while Xavier reveals a haunting truth about their powers and mourns Wolverine in a quiet, powerful funeral. The cover by Tom Grummett and Cory Hamscher captures the tension of a team on the edge.
