“Supply and Demand!”

In "Supply and Demand!", Mr. Lodge finds himself caught in a web of conflicting government mandates as he tries to run his factory, from painting it pink for morale to scrambling to avoid toxic fumes and water contamination—each new order making the last one obsolete. Written by Rich Margopoulos and brought to life with vibrant energy by Stan Goldberg, Rudy Lapick, Barry Grossman, and Bill Yoshida, this quirky slice of small-town bureaucracy is a delight, with the Kennedy Bros. delivering a delightfully absurd cover that captures the chaos perfectly.

Mr. Lodge tells Veronica about how the government has controlled his factory. Apparently, the Defense Department told him to get ahead of schedule on widget production and to paint the factory pink to cheer up the workers. Then, the Labor Department told him to remove the paint because at above 120 degrees, the paint gives off an odor harmful to lab monkeys. Then, he is told not to wash it off because the chemical could enter the city water supply. Instead, it has to be scraped off by hand and stored in metal drums.
