World of Archie (Jumbo Comics) Double Digest #63
In "Now That's Scary Part One," Archie's world tilts when a tied student body election forces Betty to choose between Archie and Reggie for president—despite her being out sick. With Mr. Weatherbee torn between the two, and both boys vying for her vote, Betty must decide who’s best suited to lead, even as her own feelings about Archie’s loyalty to Veronica linger. Written and illustrated by Bob Bolling, with inks by Marty Epp, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Marty Epp, this Double Digest tale delivers classic small-town drama with a side of high school politics. The cover, by Dan Parent and Rich Koslowski, captures the tension in a single, perfectly framed moment.

Mr. Weatherbee despairs at either Archie or Reggie being elected student body president. As principal he must remain neutral, but finally concludes that scatterbrained Archie would be marginally better than conniving Reggie. With the election a tie, both boys clamor for Betty's vote, she having been out sick. Despite her resentment of how Archie has favored Veronica, Betty concludes that Reggie would be a bad choice. Mr. Weatherbee privately congratulates her, and advises Reggie to run for vice-president -- second best to Archie is better than nothing.
