Wolverine: Dark Wolverine #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects the conclusion of the Dark Wolverine saga, following Akihiro (Daken) as he steps out of his father Wolverine's shadow and embraces his own twisted sense of heroism. The story delves into Daken's complex relationship with Wolverine and his struggle to define his identity apart from the legacy of the man who raised him.
In "My Hero," Daken stands amid the smoke of a collapsing building, the camera's lens capturing his emergence with an infant in his arms—publicly redeeming himself in the eyes of a horrified audience. Written by Daniel Way and Marjorie Liu, with dynamic art by Stephen Segovia and Paco Diaz Luque, this pivotal issue reveals a moment of calculated sacrifice, where Daken’s actions behind the scenes are as intricate as the flames consuming the structure. The cover by Greg Land perfectly frames the chaos and consequence of a hero’s shadow.

Under the watchful eye of a news camera, Daken confronts Moses Magnum, Emmy Doolin, Cutthroat and the Inquisitor. When it looks like his Wolverine might blow another well orchestrated operation, Norman blows the building killing everyone inside. As television viewers watch the live feed with horror, Daken emerges from the burning building with an infant he has saved from the explosion, putting him back in the good graces of the public. What Osborn does not know is that Daken allowed the villains to escape before the blast and tracked them down later to extract his own form of payback.
