Usagi Yojimbo #72
In "Kill the Geishu Lord!", Stan Sakai delivers a tense, atmospheric tale as the ronin Usagi and his young charge Jotaro arrive in a quiet village that feels too still—too silent. What begins as a wary welcome quickly turns dire when they uncover a village of corpses replaced by Neko Ninja, all part of a deadly scheme to assassinate the Geishu Lord, Noriyuki. With the help of the skilled swordswoman Tomoe Ame, Usagi must navigate a web of deception and danger, all drawn in Sakai’s masterful, expressive style. The cover by Stan Sakai captures the story’s brooding intensity, making this 2004 Dark Horse issue a standout in the series.
