Peach Momoko conceived and produced Ultimate X-Men as both writer and complete artist — pencils, inks, and colors — with Zack Davisson, an award-winning translator and Japanese folklore scholar, adapting her original Japanese-language script for English-speaking audiences. The series launched in March 2024 as the third title in Marvel's rebooted Ultimate Universe line, alongside Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Black Panther, and Momoko's team worked under tight monthly deadlines throughout its run. Maystorm, one of the core characters appearing in issue #8, originated as a design Momoko created for a variant cover of X-Men #27 (2021–2024 series) as part of Marvel's 'New Champions' variant project before being incorporated into the new ongoing as a fully realized character. The series drew explicit creative DNA from Momoko's earlier Demon Days saga in its fusion of American superhero concepts with Japanese folklore and horror aesthetics.
