About this Issue

Ultimate Wolverine #10 marks a pivotal moment in Marvel's second-wave Ultimate Universe experiment by delivering both the first appearance of Marrow and the first full appearance of Iceman in the Earth-6160 continuity, steadily expanding the roster of reimagined mutants operating in this dystopian Eurasian Republic setting. The issue is also the death issue for Ultimate Omega Red — a genuinely permanent plot consequence that closes off one of the Rasputin regime's most fearsome enforcers and demonstrates writer Chris Condon's willingness to reshape the Ultimate mythology rather than merely echo it. At the same time, the debut of the Earth-6160 Muramasa Blade — gifted by Sabretooth to Logan in a moment of unexpected tenderness — introduces a weapon with narrative stakes far beyond its 616 counterpart, since this version is quickly theorized to be one of the only tools capable of harming the near-unkillable Maker himself.

History

The series was announced at the Marvel Next Big Thing panel at New York Comic Con 2024, pairing writer Chris Condon (known for the Image crime series That Texas Blood) with artist Alessandro Cappuccio, who had previously collaborated with Marvel on Moon Knight. Issue #10 falls squarely in the series' second arc, with interior art duties on this particular chapter handled by fill-in penciler Alex Lins alongside colorist Bryan Valenza, while Cappuccio returned to provide the main cover. Editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski oversaw the title, with Wil Moss serving as series editor.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • First appearance of Marrow (Sarah Rushman) in the Ultimate Universe (Earth-6160), listed as a cameo-level debut in the Marvel Database.
  • First full appearance of Iceman (Bobby Drake) in the Ultimate Universe (Earth-6160); his Earth-6160 counterpart is a member of the mutant resistance group known as the Opposition.
  • Death of Ultimate Omega Red (Arkady Rossovich): Logan uses the newly acquired Muramasa Blade to behead Omega Red, with Omega Red's severed head subsequently delivered to Colossus and Magik as a message.
  • First appearance of the Earth-6160 Muramasa Blade — redesigned with a blood-red aesthetic and gifted to Logan by Sabretooth at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, with Sabretooth stating it can 'cut through the soul.'
  • Written by Chris Condon with interior art by Alex Lins (fill-in) and colors by Bryan Valenza; main cover by Alessandro Cappuccio with Frank Martin on cover colors.
  • Published October 1, 2025 (cover-dated December 2025), as issue #10 of the ongoing Ultimate Wolverine series set in Marvel's relaunched Earth-6160 Ultimate Universe.
  • Variant covers for the issue include a 1:25 incentive by Skan Srisuwan, a Philip Tan variant, and a Phil Noto Tron: Ares promotional variant.
  • In this continuity, Sabretooth (Victor Creed) and Logan are allies and close friends — a deliberate inversion of their 616 rivalry — making the blade-gifting scene a meaningful character beat rather than a standard weapon acquisition.
