About this Issue

Issue #3 of this five-part crossover miniseries marks the first appearance in comics of the Earth-6160 counterpart of David Alleyne (Prodigy), recast as a tragically exploited 'blood boy' whose mutant power-absorption abilities are literally drained by the villainous Emmanuel Da Costa — an inversion of the heroic role the character has held in the main Marvel continuity since 2003. The issue is also the narrative bridge that brings Peach Momoko's beloved Ultimate X-Men cast — Maystorm (Mei Igarashi) and Nico Minoru (Grimm) — into direct contact with Earth-616's Miles Morales for the first time, making it the first crossover appearance of those characters outside of Momoko's own series. As the midpoint chapter of the miniseries that formally united the 'Miles Morales: Spider-Man' and 'Ultimate Spider-Man' corners of the Marvel line, it also represents the most ambitious story-architecture move of the 2023–2025 Ultimate Universe relaunch: placing two distinct Spider-Man franchises and two distinct X-Men creative visions in the same narrative space.

History

The miniseries was conceived as a deliberate creative handshake between Deniz Camp, the architect of the rebooted Ultimate Universe's Ultimates and overall world-building, and Cody Ziglar, the writer steering Miles Morales in the main Marvel continuity; the two co-wrote all five issues with interior art by Jonas Scharf, the same artist who had handled 'Ultimate Universe: One Year In.' The series was seeded months in advance through a Free Comic Book Day 2025 prologue one-shot released May 3, 2025, before issue #1 launched June 4, 2025; issue #3 followed on August 13, 2025, with a cover date of October 2025. Editor Wilson Moss oversaw the series, with Sara Pichelli providing covers throughout and colorist Edgar Delgado handling the interior palette on this chapter.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • Written by Deniz Camp and Cody Ziglar; interior art by Jonas Scharf; colors by Edgar Delgado; letters by Cory Petit; cover by Sara Pichelli with colors by Tamra Bonvillain.
  • Published August 13, 2025 (cover-dated October 2025); 27 pages of content per Marvel's official listing.
  • First comic-book appearance of the Earth-6160 version of David Alleyne (Prodigy), depicted as Emmanuel Da Costa's captive 'blood boy' — Da Costa drains his mutant intelligence-absorption power to boost his own intellect, a dark-mirror take on the character's heroic Earth-616 history.
  • Marks the first crossover appearance of Maystorm (Mei Igarashi, Earth-6160) and Nico Minoru (Grimm, Earth-6160) outside of Peach Momoko's 'Ultimate X-Men' series; the two join Miles Morales to confront Silver Samurai and Viper while searching for Billie Morales.
  • The issue is set primarily in Hi No Kuni (the Earth-6160 super-nation corresponding to Japan), expanding the geographic scope of the miniseries' globe-trotting structure, which devoted each issue to a different territory of Earth-6160.
  • Silver Samurai (Kenuichio Harada) and Viper (Aida) serve as the main antagonists; Magik (Illyana Rasputin, Earth-6160) also appears and abducts Billie at the issue's end, escalating the threat into the Eurasian Republic for issue #4.
  • Letterer Cory Petit maintained the stylistic convention from Momoko's 'Ultimate X-Men' — placing Japanese-language dialogue in parentheses — to signal that characters are speaking Japanese, preserving tonal continuity across creative teams.
  • The series had been preceded by a Free Comic Book Day 2025 prologue (May 3, 2025); issue #3 received at least one variant cover each by Simone Di Meo, Peach Momoko, and Cory Smith (1:25 ratio), with a 1:50 Simone Di Meo virgin variant also offered.
