“Blood-Rush!”

Titled "Bloodlust for a Dying Vampire!" right on the cover, this November 1975 entry in Marvel's self-proclaimed "Number 1 Magazine of Fear" delivers a genuinely unsettling image: a caped Dracula looms over a prone, vulnerable figure while a blonde woman and a bespectacled man cower in the foreground, a blood-type card conspicuously clutched in hand — and an eerie bald figure lurks ominously in the background. The cover blurb warns that a relentless hunter stalks the Lord of Darkness armed with a deadly silver stake, promising that not even Dracula himself can stop him. Gene Colan's pencils and Tom Palmer's inks bring a moody, atmospheric tension to every figure on this page that made Tomb of Dracula one of Marvel's most compelling horror titles of the decade.
