The Vigilante #49
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeGrand Central Terminal becomes a battleground in this 1988 DC mature-readers series, as the cover — penciled by Denny Fincke and inked by Dick Giordano — places the Vigilante leaping dynamically above the station's iconic clock and track signage while a tense cluster of armed street toughs converges below. The composition's sharp diagonal tilt and gritty cast of characters set a suitably street-level tone for "Street Crime, Part Two." Paul Kupperberg and Steve Erwin keep the series firmly rooted in urban tension, and this penultimate issue of the run promises no shortage of it.

Vigilante and Black Thorn track down the self-proclaimed homeless avenger who has been killing those who prey on street people. Adrian has started to feel empathy for the avenger's cause, however, and ends up knocking Thorn out before she has a chance to kill him. As the avenger faces a crowd of thugs who are out for his blood, Adrian does what he believes to be the honorable thing and leaves the avenger to fight the good fight on his own.
