The Vigilante #38
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe masked, black-suited Vigilante dominates this February 1987 DC cover, caught mid-brawl aboard what appears to be a large vehicle — surrounded on all sides by armed soldiers in military fatigues brandishing pistols, rifles, and even a flaming torch. Mike Grell's cover artwork gives the scene a tight, claustrophobic energy, with bodies tumbling and weapons flying in every direction around the cool, silhouetted figure holding his ground. "The Face of Vengeance!" promises exactly the kind of gritty, street-level action that made this series a standout in DC's 1987 lineup.

Vigilante and Peacemaker agree to set aside their differences in order to take out a ship full of terrorists. Once they reach the terrorist leader, however, the two battle over who gets to kill him. During the scuffle, Peacemaker rips off Vigilante's mask and he is revealed as Judge Adrian Chase on a live news broadcast. Inspired by Vigilante's actions, a drunken mob roams the streets preparing to take out all of the foreigners who have "taken over" their neighborhood.
