History

The Spectacular Spider-Men launched in March 2024, created by writer Greg Weisman — best known outside comics for producing and writing the acclaimed 2008–2009 'Spectacular Spider-Man' animated series and co-creating 'Gargoyles' — and artist Humberto Ramos, a longtime 'Amazing Spider-Man' collaborator. The series was conceived explicitly as the first ongoing title to give both Spider-Men shared equal billing, with Weisman describing his interest in dramatizing the evolution 'from mentor and protégé to them simply being good friends.' By issue #14, interior art duties had transitioned to Andrés Genolet, with Edgar Delgado on colors and Mark Bagley providing the cover; editor Nick Lowe and Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski oversaw the issue, which shipped April 16, 2025 with a cover date of June 2025.

Tri Chen — an ESU student who debuted unnamed in 'Starbrand & Nightmask' #2 (2015–2016, also written by Weisman) — re-emerges here and receives her full name, Tri Chen, for the first time in any Marvel comic.
Krysta Brown, who first appeared in 'Starbrand & Nightmask' #1 and had only been briefly mentioned earlier in this series, makes her first in-story appearance in 'Spectacular Spider-Men' in this issue.
The Lizard subplot — centered on the kidnapping of Billy Connors by the two Electros (Max Dillon and Francine Frye) — reaches its resolution: Curt Connors calms the Lizard, Shift leads the Spider-Men into the sewers, and Billy, held by the Vermin, decides to stop hiding.
The issue closes with a cliffhanger: Peter and Miles return to the Coffee Bean only to discover that Juliet Marcos (the new hero Elementary) has gone missing.
