About this Issue

The Spectacular Spider-Men #15 carries the weight of a proper series finale, serving as the concluding chapter of Greg Weisman's fifteen-issue run — his longest continuous comics work at Marvel — and the only ongoing title ever to star both Peter Parker and Miles Morales together as co-leads. The issue resolves the arc around Juliet Marcos/Elementary, an original character Weisman crafted specifically for this book, whose journey from civilian victim of Arcade's simulation to practicing superhero gave the entire 'Strange Love' arc its emotional spine. Rather than closing with a conventional battle, Weisman and artist Andrés Genolet chose a character-driven epilogue that gathers a remarkable cross-section of the Marvel Universe — heroes, civilians, and the book's deep roster of supporting players — for a communal farewell that doubles as a love letter to the shared-universe concept. Its massive ensemble splash, with dozens of characters gathering at the Coffee Bean, stands as one of the more unusual send-offs in recent Marvel history.

History

The Spectacular Spider-Men launched in March 2024 under writer Greg Weisman — the creator of the beloved 2008–2009 animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man and the co-creator of Gargoyles — teamed with artist Humberto Ramos for its opening 'Arachnobatics' arc. The title was cancelled before Weisman could complete a planned third arc, compressing his remaining story beats into the final issue; Weisman himself has publicly discussed what the series might have looked like had it continued past issue #15. Andrés Genolet, who penciled and inked the final arc ('Strange Love'), handled the art on issue #15, while colorist Edgar Delgado maintained visual continuity across multiple artists throughout the run, and the book was edited by Nick Lowe.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • Issue #15 (story title: 'Strange Love Chapter #8: Gone Girl, Found Family') is the series finale of The Spectacular Spider-Men Vol. 1, which ran 15 issues from May 2024 to July 2025 (cover date).
  • Written by Greg Weisman; interior art by Andrés Genolet; colors by Edgar Delgado; letters by Joe Caramagna; cover art by Mark Bagley (with Delgado colors); edited by Nick Lowe.
  • The issue centers on Elementary (Juliet Marcos), an original character created by Weisman for this series who possesses control over the four classical elements (earth, fire, air, water), and whose disappearance drives the plot.
  • Libra (Gustav Brandt) is listed as the antagonist in the Marvel Database entry for this issue.
  • The ensemble cast is extraordinarily large even by team-up standards: the issue features cameo appearances from Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel, Silk, Valkyrie, Starling, Viv Vision, Aero, Wave, Nightmask, Prodigy, and many others — a deliberate celebration of Marvel's shared universe — alongside the recurring 'Coffee Bean' supporting cast drawn partly from Weisman's earlier Starbrand & Nightmask miniseries.
  • A double-page splash showing the entire cast gathered at the Coffee Bean coffee shop — the series' symbolic home base — serves as the visual centerpiece and farewell for the book.
  • The series as a whole told exactly two story arcs across its 15 issues: 'Arachnobatics' (issues #1–7) and 'Strange Love' (issues #8–15), with issue #15 representing the eighth and final chapter of the second arc.
  • The complete 'Strange Love' arc, including issue #15, is collected in The Spectacular Spider-Men Vol. 3: Strange Love trade paperback (ISBN 9781302964481), collecting issues #11–15.
