The Omega Men #8
DC's far-flung cosmic team takes center stage in The Omega Men #8, where Tod Smith and Mike DeCarlo's cover plunges us into what appears to be a grand public spectacle — a dark-haired woman in red and a blonde figure in white stand on an elevated platform before a crowd of spectators, while an array of striking alien creatures surge up from below, tentacled, feathered, and towering in every direction. The sheer diversity of extraterrestrial life on display makes this 1983 issue a vivid reminder of how imaginatively Roger Slifer and Smith were building out the Vega star system. With a story titled "Jubilation," there's an intriguing tension between that celebratory title and the overwhelming mob of alien figures pressing in from all sides.
