The Human Torch #1
Marvel's 1974 launch of The Human Torch #1 brings together two fiery generations under one cover, as the android original Human Torch and the modern Johnny Storm streak through a city skyline in a blazing aerial confrontation, trading charged words in speech bubbles crackling with energy. John Romita's pencils and Joe Sinnott's inks give the scene real dynamism — both flame-wreathed figures look ready to settle a generational rivalry mid-flight, with a small inset portrait of the android Torch reinforcing the dual-hero premise. It's a genuinely exciting setup for a series celebrating the full blazing legacy of the Human Torch name.

Ben shows up, but Johnny refuses help, saying it's his fight. After another encounter with The Destroyer, Johnny gets a hunch when he realizes the targets so far have been the roller coaster and the parachute jump. Atop the coaster, he looks out to sea and spots a Commie sub! The Destroyer turns out to be Charles Stanton, publisher of the town's newspaper, who'd been smuggling info to the Reds until the building of the amusement park increased the risk that the submarine might be seen.
