“Savior”

A looming, shadowy red figure with outstretched claws dominates this striking 1983 cover by Don Perlin and Andy Mushynsky, casting a menacing presence over a chaotic battlefield of fallen and struggling heroes. At the center stands a powerful, bare-chested villain bearing a pentagram symbol, while teammates visible in the inset corner — including a blue-skinned figure and a white-haired woman — look on with alarm as armored combatants, a female hero in yellow and black, and a blonde figure in red and yellow are swept up in the melee. With the ominous title "Savior" attached, issue #121 of The Defenders promises a tense clash where the line between salvation and catastrophe is anything but clear.
