“The Armor of Doom!”

In *The Brave and the Bold* #14 (1957), Bill Finger and Russ Heath deliver a clever twist on the Robin Hood legend with "The Armor of Doom!"—where the hero disguises himself as his own legend at a masquerade, only to find his escape is being tracked with eerie precision. As Robin Hood and Little John flee through Sherwood Forest, they’re baffled by unseen pursuers who seem to anticipate every move—until a glowing residue on Robin’s cloak reveals the secret behind the trail. The cover by Irv Novick captures the tension with a dramatic, masked Robin in the shadows.

At Prince John's masquerade ball, Robin Hood poses as - Robin Hood! He sneaks into the dungeon, frees Little John, and they sword-fight to freedom. But as they enter the safety of Sherwood Forest, Prince John laughs. His trackers follow Robin and Little John everywhere, even through treetops and streams and concealed trails? How? Circling in desperation, Robin discovers glowing spots where he passed - a liquid on his clothes, put there by a courtier, leaves a glowing trail. Outfoxing Prince John, he leads the trackers in circles and drops a hornets' nest on them!
