Magneto debuts a new power in this arc: the ability to magnetically control human minds by manipulating the iron content in the bloodstream — holding captive Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Professor X, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, and Iceman simultaneously.
The Vision defeats Magneto by using his intangibility to secretly possess Magneto's lackey the Piper from the inside, then striking Magneto unconscious — freeing all the mind-controlled heroes.
The issue features cameo flashbacks or brief appearances by Angel, Quicksilver, Mastermind, Toad, Amphibius, Barbarus, Brainchild, Gaza, Lupo, and Jason Wyngarde (Mastermind), populating it with virtually the full Brotherhood and Savage Land Mutates rosters.
The story is collected in Avengers Epic Collection Vol. 6: 'A Traitor Stalks Among Us' (Marvel, 2021), which spans the 1972–1973 period of Englehart's run.
